4 AMBER LOCKRIDGE
Introduction
I fondly remember Amber’s kindergarten “write-to- read” curriculum where I first saw her express a talent and passion for writing stories. While my interest in recorded stories can be traced back to my own elementary school days capturing neighborhood kids with my dad’s old reel-to-reel tape recorder.
My continued multimedia exploration took a giant leap with the advent of computers and digital media creation reaching the masses. Then at the age of 48 I decided to give myself the gift of purchasing my very own website domain, RockylouProductions.com, and embarked upon a digital storytelling adventure that continues to use family and friends for source material.
So it was a natural extension of my storytelling passion to take the letters and stories of Amber’s experience as an AFS exchange student while in Ghana from 2000-2001 (I myself was a Rotary exchange student twenty years earlier to Australia.) and turn them into something we could share with the rest of the world. And we both felt this was a wonderful opportunity for mother and daughter to spend quality time creating together.
